Racing Engineering saw both sides of the coin in today’s feature race at Hockenheim. Dani Clos, who started from sixth position on the grid, had a difficult race which was highlighted by the charge he led later in the race, in order to finish in fourth position, only four tenths from another podium. Local hero Christian Vietoris, who started fourteenth on the grid, saw himself behind a slowing Grosjean into turn 1 and couldn’t avoid the impact, which ended the German’s race on the first lap.

Dani Clos on P6 for Racing Engineering

Spanish team Racing Engineering has had a day full of mixed emotions with the difficult conditions at the mythical Hockenheimring today. With free practice being held on a drying track, both Racing Engineering drivers showed their skills setting the fastest and third fastest time of the session. Just when qualifying was to start, heavy rains set in and turned the session into a lottery for the top positions on the starting grid of Hockenheim’s feature race. The team brought all its efforts together in order to achieve a good result and Dani, as well as, were in top positions throughout most of the session. But problems with traffic and a session marked by many interruptions, including two red flags, prevented the boys from fulfilling their expectations. Spaniard Dani Clos set the sixth fastest time, and local hero Christian Vietoris, who had some problems with traffic, finished in fourteenth place.

Spanish driver Dani Clos drove another intelligent race, managing his Bridgestone tyres and controlling his
rivals to reach the finish line in third position which put him on the podium again. German rookie Christian Vietoris, starting 12th, drove a fantastic race, and this, together with a very fast pit stop, had him finish today’s
race in an excellent 6th place.

Dani Clos: “The challenge for me is to score the maximum points possible”

Racing Engineering’s Dani Clos is heading to Silverstone, where the fifth round of the 2010 GP2 Series is taking place this weekend, being second in the championship standings. However, the young Spaniard is not looking back at the great results he achieved so far this season. He regards each new race weekend to come as a new challenge on his task list, where things start from zero after ever round. His focus is not on the championship standings, but making the best out of each time he sits in Racing Engineering’s Dallara GP2 car. While Dani is not yet familiar with the new sector of Silverstone’s Arena configuration, he doesn’t regard this as a disadvantage and is motivated to make it onto the podium again.
